Deontay Wilder’s coach has called for the WBC heavyweight title to be stripped from Tyson Fury. Malik Scott is shocked by the upcoming fight between Fury and former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. The two are expected to announce their crossover clash this week, which is believed to be for a showcase only.
This left Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott furious and demanding that the WBC strip the heavyweight champion of the prestigious title.
“Let Deontay and Andy Ruiz fight for the WBC title, man,” Scott told ESNEWS. “Let’s do something that has real meaning that helps the sport. All this f***ing waiting, so now we have to wait for Fury and Ngannou to fight. This whole thing is just screwing up the heavyweight division.”, he said.
Fury was unable to negotiate a heavyweight title unification fight with Oleksandr Usyk. The Ukrainian will now defend his titles on August 26 against mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois in Poland.
