Trent Williams’ holdout is in the past.
The San Francisco 49ers are finalizing a new contract with Trent, ending their prolonged deal dispute and putting the star LT in position to play in next week’s campaign opener vs. the NY Jets.
The left tackle returned to the Bay last night as the 11-time Pro Bowler got there to finalize his new contract.

Trent (36) has held out of San Francisco’s entire training camp, accruing more than 4 million dollars in fines for being absent from every training and 3 preseason matches. The left tackle, who spent his time away from the team at home in Houston getting ready for the new campaign, had been owed over 20 million dollars in the current campaign under the 6-year, 138.1 million dollar contract he inked 3 years ago.
This will be the 2nd time the 49ers have reconfigured a contract for a star footballer in the current offseason after a similar contract with Christian McCaffrey in the summer.
