Caroline Wozniacki announced her return to professional tennis three years after retiring and she is already fired up to achieve the maximum.
Wozniacki clinched the 2018 Australian Open and was 71 weeks at the top of the rankings. In January 2020 she announced her retirement before giving birth to two of her children.
But now the Dane is back and is fully motivated to show she is still among the best.
“I’m too competitive to show up and not feel like I’m going to be one of the best players out there,” she said.
Wozniacki is determined to compete at the 2023 US Open and she was instantly given a wildcard entry.
“Can I win the US Open? I think so. Can I win the Australian Open? I think so. That’s why I’m doing this. And I guess we’ll see what happens.”
The US Open begins on August 28.
