The Philadelphia 76ers have announced on Tuesday that they have fired head-coach Doc Rivers.
The news comes just two days after the Philadelphia team succumbed to one of its most devastating losses to the Celtics in Game 7 of the second-round playoff.
The 76ers had a golden opportunity to book a place in the finals as early as Game 6, but lost their home game despite Boston’s star player Jayson Tatum having a poor performance.
That left it all for the final 7th game, where the Boston team breeze past hapless 76ers to knock them out of the series for a third consecutive year.
It left the Philadelphia board with no choice, but to sack River, who still had 2 years left on his contract.
The search for new manager has begun and the likely candidates are Mike Budenholzer, Sam Cassell, Mike D’Antoni, Nick Nurse, Frank Vogel and Monty Williams, reports say.
