Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his concerns over the lack of creativity in the Real Madrid squad after an unimpressive 0-0 draw against Real Betis on Sunday. The result meant that the team from Madrid are trailing 9 points to Barcelona and as things stand are highly unlikely to retain their domestic crown from last year.
This is also Real third-consecutive game without a win after drawing Atletico Madrid 1-1 and succumbing to Barcelona midweek in Copa del Rey.
“I’m upset more than angry. It’s strange we’re not scoring,” Ancelotti told reporters. “It’s not normal that a team with this much quality didn’t score more than one goal in the last three games. It does upset me, a lot.”
“The players are also disappointed because we’ve got the quality to score and we’ve always done it. I think our attack is a problem right now. We need to be more clinical and deliver more.”
The Italian coach, however, refused to write off his team’s chances of winning the league and vowed to fight until the end.
Real Madrid face Espanyol on Saturday, before the 2nd leg Champions league knockout game against Liverpool next Wednesday at the Bernabeu.
