Andy Murray, the former world number 1 tennis player, is poised to return to the court following an injury layoff, slated to compete in the clay-court tournament in Geneva, Switzerland, commencing on May 18th.
The 36-year-old, anticipating retirement from the sport by the season’s end, has been sidelined since late March after sustaining ankle ligament injuries during a third-round match against Tomas Machac at the Miami Open.
Despite forgoing surgery, concerns arose among fans regarding Murray’s ability to participate in Wimbledon for a final time. However, with a wild card granted for the Geneva clay-court event, starting on May 18th, Murray signals his intent to contest the French Open a week thereafter.
Having last appeared in the French Open in 2020 amidst ongoing hip issues, Murray now aims for significant achievements in his remaining tournaments, eyeing a podium finish at the Paris Olympics in July and August.
