The Citizens drop to third in the Premier League

Arsenal managed to beat Manchester City at home with an economical 1-0 win and overtook them in the standings.

The reigning champions are now third, trailing by two points to Tottenham and the Gunners.

City had a chance to score inside the first five minutes after the ball was cleared by an Arsenal player from the very goal line after Guardiol’s shot, then Haaland headed towards Nathan Ake, who shot from a clear position but failed to hit the target.

Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic fouled Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard midway through the first half after the Gunners played the ball and the Croatian midfielder’s foot clattered into the opposition player. The referee considered that it was not a straight red card and only showed a yellow to Mateo Kovacic.

The second half was very balanced until the 86th minute. Kai Havertz fed the ball to Gabriel Martinelli and he fired from the edge of the penalty area, the ball deflected off Nathan Ake and past a helpless Ederson for 1-0 to Arsenal.
