Despite the scoreline, it was not at all smooth sailing for Thomas Tuchel’s side as they had to dig deep in order to survive in the first half.
The home supporters experienced a real heart attack as their team was reduced to ten men as early as the 4th minute, when Joshua Kimmich was shown straight red.
However, fortune turned on its head for the Bavarians as their opponent was reduced to nine men in the space of 20 minutes, just before half-time.
Since then the visitors endured a real meltdown in defense as they let pretty much every opportunity turn into a goal.
Harry Kane bagged his first hat-trick for the German champions, while a brace from Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala, along with a goal from substitute Thomas Muller rounded off the final score of 8-0.
Bayern now sit top of the Bundesliga with 23 point with Bayer Leverkusen in 2nd with 22 points, but with a game in hand.
