For all the good things that Justin Fields did on the field during his debut for Pittsburgh Steelers in the organization’s 1st preseason match, 2 plays overshadowed the QB’s performance.
A fumbled snap exchange on each of Justin’s 1st 2 drives stymied Pittsburgh’s 1st outing this year, and the miscues were just part of a sloppy 20-12 defeat against the Houston Texans.
“According to me, he did some positive things,” manager Mike Tomlin revealed. “But without a doubt, he was a component of the C-Q exchange, and from what I saw, that’s dual responsibility on the center and the QB. It negated a lot of good things going on in those 1st couple of drives.”
Justin competed for 3 series, completing 5 of 6 attempts for 67 yards, but in addition to the fumbles, he was sacked 2 times.
Fields was replaced by 3rd-string QB Kyle Allen as he finished the match for Pittsburgh, completing 17 of 23 attempts for 193 yards.
