Hubert Hurkacz continued to capitalize on his status as the favorite in his half of the Shanghai Masters draw and made the final without breaking a sweat, beating 6-3, 6-4 Sebastian Korda.
Hurkacz can dream of a second trophy of the highest ATP category after the one in Miami in 2021. In the final he will battle with either Grigor Dimitrov or Andrey Rublev.
This is the third Masters final in the Pole’s career, who lost to Pablo Carreño Busta in Montreal in 2022. Hurkacz was expectedly dominant on serve and did not allow a single break point, but took advantage of two chances in both sets. He converted 27 winners and made 14 unforced errors, while his opponent had 22 winners but just as many unforced errors.
The Pole lost all three of his previous matches with Grigor Dimitrov, and he and Rublev have shared two wins each so far in their clashes.
