Hurricane Milton caused significant damage to Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, when it rampaged through the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday night.
The storm tore pieces of the non-retractable roof off the stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida, with parts of the structure seen flapping in the intense winds.

Despite the severity of the situation, there were no reported injuries at the site, which had been used as a shelter for first responders preparing for post-storm recovery efforts. Rows of cots had been set up on the stadium’s artificial turf for emergency personnel.
Originally opened in 1990 as the Florida Suncoast Dome, the venue has a long history, including its time as the Tampa Bay Lightning’s home arena, when it was called the Thunder Dome. Tropicana, a local beverage company, secured naming rights in 1996 under a 30-year deal. Hurricane Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm, with winds reaching 120 mph, before being downgraded to Category 2.
