The captain came in as a sub and got the win for the Italians

Lazio kept their hopes to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage, beating Celtic 2-0 at home. The hero for the Italian side was their captain Ciro Immobile, who came in as a sub in the second half and score a quick brace.

Before the break Lazio had the upper hand and produced some great chances in front of Joe Hart’s goal, but failed to find the net. At the beginning of the second half the home side continued to be the better team on the field, but the final shot was missing.

Hence, Maurizio Sari decided to bring Ciro Immobile in to change his attacking power. The move turned out perfect as the forward scored his first goal in the 82 minute, finishing a good cross at the far post.

Just seconds after the restart of the game, Immobile received the ball into the box and with a good shoot with his left foot finished it off for 2-0. In the last seconds Celtic got a penalty, but VAR checked the situation and overturned the referee’s original decision.

With their three points, Lazio now have 10 points at the top of the group – two more than Atletico Madrid and four away from Feyenord, but both teams play later tonight.
