Tiger Woods has withdrawn from this week’s Hero World Challenge due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot, he announced on Monday.
The 46-year-old, who hosts the long-running event, held at Albany in the Bahamas. event, had been part of a star-studded field at the Albany, featuring eight of the world’s top 11 and three of this year’s four men’s major winners, but confirmed his withdrawal via social media.

Woods developed the condition as he prepared to return to action this week, making it difficult to walk, he said. Plantar fasciitis, inflammation of a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes, is one of the most common causes of heel pain.
Woods, who has won the Hero World Challenge five times, still plans to compete at The Match and PNC Championship later this month.
Woods, who last competed on TOUR at The 150th Open at St. Andrews, missing the cut with rounds of 78-75, will be replaced in the field by Sepp Straka.
The event has been contested at Albany since 2015.
