Jamie Garragher has claimed that his former team Liverpool are not strong enough to challenge for this year’s Premier League title.
The Reds have had an encouraging start to the season, much better than last year with the team sitting 3rd in the table.
However a surprising 1-1 draw with Luton over the weekend has raised a few eyebrows and according to Garragher the game underlined the team’s shortcomings.
The Sky pundit believes, Jurgen Klopp’s side desperately requires a defensive midfielder and a defender if they were to challenge Manchester City.
“What Liverpool have had in the last 18 months, they’re a lot better at it this season, they’re still not as good as Manchester City at stopping counter-attacks. People always think about Liverpool pressing from the front, but Liverpool are a team who dominate possession, have a lot of the ball. They’re not quite as good as City in possession so there’s more turnovers when they lose the ball.”
