Manchester United are exploring the possibility of appointing Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as their next head coach and are reportedly prepared to pay his €10 million (£8.3 million) release clause.
Sporting confirmed United’s interest in Amorim and their willingness to meet the clause in a statement to Portugal’s financial regulator, CMVM.

United have not yet commented on the reports, but the search for a new manager has intensified following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.
Amorim, 39, has made a name for himself in Portuguese football since joining Sporting in 2020. He led the club to two league titles, including their first in 19 years, and has built a reputation as a highly effective tactician. This managerial change comes after United’s disappointing start to the season, where they are currently 14th in the Premier League and struggling in the Europa League with three consecutive draws.
