Memphis overcame Ga Morrant season-ending injury and showed their strength

Desmond Bane took charge with an impressive 32-point performance, guiding the injury-plagued Memphis Grizzlies to a convincing 120-103 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.

Bane played a pivotal role in the third quarter, contributing 13 of the Grizzlies’ final 18 points, establishing a commanding 20-point lead entering the last quarter. This marked the team’s first game since learning about Ja Morant’s season-ending shoulder injury.

Despite the absence of Morant, who has been the leading scorer, the resilient Grizzlies (14-23) secured their second consecutive win. Marcus Smart, though, left the game with a dislocated finger on his right hand with 7:38 remaining in the third quarter. Before his injury, Smart made a significant impact with 23 points on 9 of 16 shooting, including four 3-pointers. He exited the game after extending Memphis’s lead to 18 points but later returned to the bench with an icepack on his right hand. Jaren Jackson Jr. was also unavailable due to a right knee contusion.

The Dallas Mavericks (22-16) faced their own injury challenges, with leading scorer Luka Doncic Intermittently leaving the game due to an ankle injury. Doncic briefly exited in the first half after a hard foul sent him to the floor.
