Genoa defeated AS Roma in a commanding fashion 4-1 on matchday 6 of Serie A on Thursday night.

It was a flying start for the home team, who found themselves in front as early as the 5th minute.

Roma struck back thanks to Bryan Christante in the 22nd minutes to draw the game level.

However, the Romans were unable to capitalize on that boost and soon were swarmed by a much superior side.

Genoa restored their lead just on the brink of half-time and came out a much more composed team in the second half. Swift strikes from Thorsby and Messias wrapped up the final result and compiled the misery for Roma.

Jose Mourinho’s men have struggled immensely since the start of the campaign, registering only one win from the 6 games and have notched 5 points in total. They currently sit towards the bottom of the table in 16th place.
