United States national basketball team head coach, Steve Kerr, has pinpointed three players he sees as the foundation of the starting lineup. Kerr is under scrutiny from U.S. fans for starting Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, but remains sure in his choice. Embiid, along with veterans LeBron James and Steph Curry, is locked into Kerr’s lineup.
“We’ve looked at different options, and we certainly have other choices, but personally, I like this trio together the most,” Kerr stated following the Americans’ 105-79 victory over Serbia in a friendly match in Abu Dhabi.

Kerr also praised the performances of backup centers Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo, who provided essential defensive stability against Serbia’s star player Nikola Jokic.
“Our team has plenty of scorers. That’s never been an issue for us. However, I need to see defense, defense, defense. That should be what sets us apart, along with the depth of our roster. I think that’s our biggest strength,” Kerr emphasized, highlighting the advantage of having 12 of the biggest stars in the National Basketball Association.
Team USA’s first game in the Olympic tournament in Paris is set for July 28 against Serbia. Prior to that, the Olympic champions will play two more friendly matches – one against the first-time participant South Sudan and another against the world champion Germany.
