Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, asserts that despite the club’s current difficulties, he has no regrets about accepting the position.
With a year remaining on his contract, Ten Hag faces significant pressure following a string of poor results, including a humiliating 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
United’s decline to eighth place in the Premier League, outside the European spots, has fueled speculation that new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe might consider a managerial change.
“I don’t regret being here for one second,” affirmed Ten Hag. “This is a massive club. You don’t know the challenges you have to face until you are in it. But I wanted this challenge.”
In his first season, Ten Hag secured the EFL Cup, ending United’s six-year trophy drought. Additionally, he guided the team to the FA Cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.
The former Ajax boss considers last season’s achievements as “over-achievement.” He attributes this season’s struggles largely to a spate of injuries, forcing him to frequently alter his central defensive pairings and depriving him of a conventional left-back for much of the campaign.
