Chelsea succumbed to yet another loss in the Premier League to Brighton, their third in a row and 12th overall this season.
Speaking of their shortcomings in the slumbering home defeat, manager Frank Lampard said his team got the basics wrong and have to work harder to improve on their form.
“We have to address it very quickly, me and the players, because that’s not a Chelsea performance,” he said.
“I’ve been at the club nine days. I don’t like what I saw today,”
“I’m not going to try to dress that up in any way. There should be a feeling when you play for Chelsea where you’re proud.”
“To get there, there needs to be a new energy. That needs to come back.”
Chelsea face Real Madrid on Tuesday in what is their last chance of salvaging their horrendous season. However, if they were to succeed in that they have to overcome a 2-0 deficit, something which at this moment of time looks beyond reach, considering their drought in front of goal.
