Zirkzee to the rescue, Man Utd kicks off Premier League with a win

The Dutch striker scored the winning goal in the 87th minute for 1-0 at Old Trafford

Joshua Zirkzee didn’t wait long to become a hero for Manchester United. The summer signing for the attack came in clutch to secure the 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford after coming on from the bench and scoring in the 87th minute.

In the 12th minute, Fulham’s Kenny Tete almost broke the deadlock with a superb individual effort. He skillfully created space and fired a powerful shot aimed at the top left corner, but Manchester United’s goalkeeper André Onana made an outstanding save, tipping the ball over the bar with one hand to concede a corner.

Around ten minutes later, Bruno Fernandes had a promising opportunity inside Fulham’s penalty area after receiving a well-placed pass. However, his attempt from a tight angle went wide, missing the target. In the 29th minute, Fernandes found himself in a one-on-one situation with Fulham’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno following a defensive mistake. Despite the golden opportunity, Leno denied Fernandes with a crucial save.

As the first half progressed, United continued to press, and in the 36th minute, Amad Diallo delivered an excellent corner into the box. Casemiro rose highest to meet the ball, but his header narrowly missed Fulham’s right post, keeping the score level.

Early in the second half, Manchester United came close again. Bruno Fernandes flicked the ball into the path of Mason Mount, whose shot was well-saved by Leno. The rebound fell to Kobbie Mainoo, who struck from the edge of the penalty area, but his effort went off target, resulting in a goal kick for Fulham.

Manchester United managed to break Bernd Leno and the Fulham defenders in the 87th minute. Joshua Zirkzee gave the start to the attack on the “Red devils”, Casemiro passed to Garnacho, who crossed the ball into the penalty area and Zirkzee just put his foot on its way to send it into the bottom left corner.
