RB Leipzig scored inside just two minutes, but their goal was dissallowed. From a corner into Real Madrid’s penalty area, David Raum delivered the ball, and Lunin came out to punch it, but he didn’t handle it convincingly. Shaver Schlager then took a shot, Rodrigo covered the offside, and Benjamin Sesko scored the ball into the empty net. The assistant referee flagged for offside, and VAR confirmed the decision.
Real Madrid took the lead 1-0 in the 49th minute. Brahim Diaz passed through two Leipzig players and then scored a beautiful shot into Gulacsi’s far corner.
Real Madrid came close to scoring a second goal in the 72nd minute. Brahim Diaz passed to Vinicius, who entered the penalty area and shot past Peter Gulacsi, but the ball hit the left post of RB Leipzig’s goal.
