After he retired as a player following a 13-year career, Griffin began coaching as an assistant at the Bucks in 2008. He stayed there until 2010 and then worked at Chicago Bulls (2010-2015), Orlando Magic (2015-16), Oklahoma City Thunder (2016-18) and the Raptors until this summer, where he became champion in 2019.
