Ernest Nuama came on loan from Belgian Molenbeek

Lyon are performing awful since the beginning of this season and after 7 rounds are at the bottom of Ligue 1 with only 2 points.

As well as the problems on the field, the club also has problems off it, as it became clear that FIFA had opened an investigation against them.

The reason is the transfer of Ernest Nuamah, who arrived in the team during the summer transfer window on loan from the Belgian Molenbeek. Molenbeek bought the Ghanaian earlier in the summer from Denmark’s Nordsjaelland for €25m, but quickly loaned him out.

Lyon and Molenbeek have the same owner – John Texter, and the suspicions are that it is precisely because of this that this loan transfer came about.

Lyon is currently in a difficult financial situation and it is believed that it is through the Belgian team that they are trying to conduct a transfer policy, and then take the players bought by Molenbeek into their squad.

Because of this, FIFA has launched an investigation against Lyon, which, however, is still in its initial stages.
