Pep Guardiola has shared that the Sky Blues had no choice but to accept Atlético Madrid’s bid for Julián Álvarez because he shared with the team he wants to leave.
Julian is set to play for the Madrid team for a fee which could rise to almost 105 million dollars.
The Argentinian forward has been a crucial footballer for Manchester City for the past 2 seasons, but Pep shared the team was not in a position to stop the transfer.
“I don’t like to tell footballers what they have to do,” the Sky Blues head coach revealed today.
“Deals are nice, but they can be broken. If you are not happy, why should you remain with our group?
Guardiola added that Alvarez is appreciated by the Sky Blues for his behavior but added that if a player chooses to try something new, he will not stop him.
Julian has netted 36 goals in 103 matches since his transfer from River Plate 2 years ago.
