Ilkay Gundogan has given the green light to a contract to rejoin the Sky Blues from the Catalan side.
Ilkay left Pep Guardiola’s side to sign with Barcelona upon the expiry of his deal last year, but now, almost certainly, he will play for the Sky Blues again.
The German midfielder will ink a 1-year deal with the EPL champs with the option of an additional year.

Gundogan spent 7 years with Manchester City between 2016 and 2023, winning 14 titles and captaining them to their only UCL title.
After the German demanded a transfer because of being unhappy with his status under the new head coach Hansi Flick, the club decided yesterday that they would allow him to leave for free. As such, Ilkay will give up the last 2 years of his deal with the Catalan team.
Ilkay’s departure will allow Barca to register blockbuster summer inking Dani Olmo with La Liga. The Catalan side began the new campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory at Valencia, while the Sky Blues defeated Chelsea 2-0 in London.
