The Nerazzuri on brink of first final since 2010

Inter take a comfortable first leg advantage after beating fierce rivals AC Milan 0-2 in 1/2 final of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Early strikes from Eden Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan sealed the deal for the formal visitors as Milan, despite their efforts were unable to reduce the deficit.

Dzeko opened the scoring with a superbly curled shot from a corner kick that found the back of the net eight minutes into the game.

Only 3 minutes later Mkhitaryan put his name on the scoresheet after a through ball from Federico Dimarco gave the attacking midfielder a one-on-one chance with goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The Armenian kept his cool and gave Inter a commanding 2-0 lead to silence the San Siro.

Later on, Milan survived a real scare, when VAR intervened to overturn Lisandro Martinez penalty.

The hosts pulled their act together in the second half and were much more aggressive and composed. They created plenty of chances with Sandro Tonali hitting the post in the 63rd minute. But all of them came to no avail as Inter managed to hang on to that precious 2-0 lead.

Stefano Pioli’s men will have to hope for nothing short of a miracle if they want to overcame the deficit in the 2nd leg and progress to the Champions League final for the first time since 2007.
