Italy won against Ukraine 2-1 in Luciano Spalletti’s 1st home match at the helm of the nation at San Siro and grabbed the 2nd place in Group C with 7 points – Ukraine and North Macedonia each also had 7 points, but Italy played 4 matches while the other 2 teams already had played 5 games.
Italy totally dominated the first 30 minutes of the match as Davide Frattesi scored the 1st goal in the 12th minute after a big mistake from a Ukrainian defender who slipped and gave the ball to the Italians near the penalty area. Davide Frattesi again doubled the result in the 28th minute, and it seemed like it would be an easy game for the home team until the end.

In the 2nd half, both teams had chances to score, but neither was able to convert its opportunities and, in the end, the home team kept the win.
