Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona and Spain’s star winger Lamine Yamal, is in “serious but stable” condition after being stabbed late Wednesday in a car park in Mataró, a town in northeastern Spain, according to reports from Spanish national TV broadcaster TVE.
The regional police, Mossos d’Esquadra, confirmed the incident and informed that three individuals had been arrested on charges of attempted murder. Yamal, a 17-year-old soccer prodigy who recently became a breakout star in the Euro 2024 tournament, grew up in Mataró, a working-class suburb of Barcelona.

TVE reported that Nasraoui suffered three stab wounds—two to the abdomen and one to the chest. He was rushed to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Badalona, Barcelona, where he is expected to remain under close observation.
A fourth individual was arrested on Thursday, although their involvement in the stabbing remains unclear. The police are investigating whether a prior altercation might have led to the incident, with social media videos surfacing that appear to show Nasraoui in a heated argument in the Rocafonda neighborhood, which required police intervention.
