In a blockbuster trade that will impact the West Conference in the upcoming seasons, the LA Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Utah Jazz agreed to a 3-organization deal that will swap Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic.
Los Angeles will get Luka, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris from Dallas. Mavericks will get Antony, Max Christie, and the Lakers’ 2029 1st-round selection.
Utah will get Jalen Hood-Schifino, the Clippers, this year’s 2nd-round selection, and Dallas’ 2nd-round selection again this year.
“In my opinion, defense wins titles,” Dallas GM Nico Harrison, sharing why he made such a move for Antony at the cost of Luka. “To have in my team an All-Defensive center and an All-NBA basketballer with a defensive mindset makes a better contender. We are doing everything we can do built to triumph now and in the upcoming seasons.”
Dallas reached out to the Los Angeles Lakers to discuss the potential trade, as all happened in the past few days. Harrison and Rob Pelinka, LA’s GM, as Lakers were all happy with the chance to acquire Doncic, who is still only 25 years old and can be the face of the league in the upcoming 10 years.
“This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”@ShamsCharania on the Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic trade between the Lakers and Mavericks pic.twitter.com/Hp4bL3UX2M
