The Magpies did what was needed of them and will take part in the most prestigious European club event

Newcastle were held to 0-0 draw against Leicester despite dominating the majority of the game at St. James Park on Monday night.

However, a point was all that was needed for the Magpies, who clinched a Champions League spot for the first time in 20 years.

They currently sit 3rd with 70 points, one ahead of Manchester United, who play Chelsea on Thursday and 4 ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool.

The home team was the dominant side throughout the whole game, but were unable to break the deadlock.

Leicester, on the other hand, despite the desperate need of all three points will be relieved to go away with the draw as it keeps their faint survival hopes alive.

The Foxes go into the last round with 31 points, 2 behind Everton, who sit above them with 33 in 17th. A win for Everton would automatically mean that Leicester go down. However, due to better goal difference, if the Foxes defeat West Ham and Everton draws, then the Toffees will be the one going down.
