Chelsea manager Graham Potter was all smiles when asked about his response to his team being drawn against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Potter was reminded of earlier remark of his, when he rather enthusiastically promised that the London team would try to win the Champions League. When asked if he still felt the same after being drawn against Real, Potter replied that nothing has changed from that mindset.
The Chelsea manager was adamant that the team will focus on Real Madrid when the time comes; as for now, they are fully committed to their Premier League duties as they play Everton at Stamford bridge on Saturday.
The Blues currently sit 10th in the Premier League table and are far off a Champions league spot. However, they find themselves in good shape as they won their last 3 games, including a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Due to this fine run of form, it is perhaps the first time the ex-Brighton manager doesn’t find himself under severe pressure. A potential victory over 14-time holder Real Madrid, who are red-hot favorites not only for the tie, but for the trophy, in general, would be a massive achievement for Potter and would certainly wash away all the bitterness Chelsea suffered throughout his difficult reign.
