Moments later, Mbappé nearly added a second but was denied by Marco Carnesecchi. Unfortunately for Real Madrid, Mbappé left the game with an injury in the 36th minute and was replaced by Rodrygo.
Atalanta equalized just before halftime when Aurelien Tchouaméni clipped Sead Kolasinac’s heel inside the box, leading to a penalty. Charles De Ketelaere converted with a confident strike into the top corner.

Atalanta fought back when Ademola Lookman scored from a tight angle, drilling the ball past Lucas Vazquez and into the near bottom corner. The hosts continued to press for an equalizer, but Matteo Ruggeri’s effort went over, and Thibaut Courtois made a crucial save to deny Mateo Retegui at the near post.
