Bill Belichick had at least 1 chance to continue his National Football League career on the sideline this campaign.
Kyle Shanahan shared on a podcast that he offered the ex-NE Patriots boss a spot on his San Francisco 49ers staff, but Bill declined.
“I did, I offered him the chance,” Shanahan shared. “Belichick loves this game so much that you never know what he … I can’t believe that he’s not a manager of any organization at the moment. I don’t have a doubt about what I would do if I owned a team, so that shocked me. The last thing you want to do is insult someone like him. But I know he just loves football in its simplest form, so I offered him the opportunity, whatever Belichick wanted to do.”
That featured the 49ers’ defensive coordinator job; Kyle revealed, a position that later was filled when San Francisco promoted Nick Sorensen to take it.
