Italy boss Luciano Spalletti claimed he took full responsibility for his nation’s exit from the Euro 2024 in Germany in the 1st knockout round after a 2-0 defeat against the Swiss.
“The responsibility is mine, but there’s a big difference between the games I’ve had to coach and the others.”

However, Luciano also shared that he had not had enough games in which to blend his players ahead of the loss, which marked Italy’s 1st elimination before the ¼ final stage of the European Championship in 20 years.
“I have the responsibility,” Italy head coach shared with the reporters after the defeat.
“We failed because of the team I picked; it is never down to the footballers.”
The manager claimed, however, that he did not have enough time to make his ideas work.
All other managers had 30 or even more matches with their squads before the Euro began, Spalletti revealed, adding: “I only led Italy in 10.”
Luciano added that he can build something with the players that he have if he had more time.
