Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has made his final decision about his future, according to reports from “Bild” and “Sky Germany”. The specialist will remain with his current club for the upcoming season.
The Spanish coach has informed Bayern Munich about his decision. Alonso will officially announce his stay at the “BayArena” during his press conference today at 14:00 local time. There was significant interest in Xabi Alonso from Bayern and Liverpool. German media repeatedly claimed that the Spaniard would either continue his work at Bayer or move to the Allianz Arena.
Ultimately, Alonso has decided that it’s best for him to continue his work with Bayer, a team he believes will soon clinch the Bundesliga title and thereby challenge Bayern’s hegemony. In the summer of 2025, Xabi Alonso’s contract will include a buyout clause of around €15 million.
