Barcelona is keen to return to Camp Nou as soon as possible in order to capitalize from stadium’s renovation. The club is very satisfied with the Turkish company “Limak”, which is carrying out the construction works, and the Catalans will even pay a bonus for the fact that the reconstruction is going faster than the initially planned schedule, Mundo Deportivo reports.
According to the original plan, the set date for the opening was November 2024, when the first two stands should be completed, and the structure of the third will also be ready. By now, the club hope to have completed 65% of the work, albeit without seats in the third tier, and by the end of the summer 90% of the stadium should be fully completed. In August 2026, Barcelona hope to have the stadium fully built with a capacity of 104,600, maintaining its status as the largest in European football.
The demolition of the third level has been completed ahead of schedule and work has already begun on making changes to the first two levels. As a result, Barcelona have paid a pre-agreed bonus of €1m to the Turkish builders. In the contract between the two parties, there are other bonuses for early completion of various tasks, while there are also penalties for late completion.
Barcelona’s ability to generate matchday revenue has been significantly hampered by their move to their back-up venue, with the capacity there just over half that available to them at Camp Nou.
