France defends Olympics‘ volleyball title vs. Poland

The French team won the 2nd straight Olympic gold medal.

France won 3-0 sets against Poland at the home Olympics and defended its Olympic Games title from Tokyo as the host nation left no doubt who the better team was.

France left no doubt in the 1st set and won it 25-19 and then closed the 2nd set 25-20. In the 3rd set, the French men’s volleyball team missed a few match points due to the phenomenal serves of Wilfredo Leon, but Leon made a fault, and France won the 3rd set 25-23 to close the match.

Poland was the favorite before the final as they eliminated Slovenia and USA to reach the match for the gold medals but things went differently and the expienced French team showed dominance since the 1st point.

To win the gold medals in Paris, the host nation eliminated Germany in the ¼ finals after trailing 2-0 sets against the Germans and then trashed Italy 3-0 sets in the ½ finals.
