The West London team had accepted a 33 million pound offer from the Madrid team in the past week, but there was uncertainty about whether the England international was interested in leaving the Blues.
But a few hours ago, Conor told the Spanish team representatives that he would be happy to join them.
Gallagher is now expected to fly and complete his medical and deal inking, which would end his 18-year period with Chelsea.
The Blues had offered a 2-year contract win an option for an additional season, but Conor didn’t like it due to both the length of the deal and his place in the team.
The midfielder, who played 5 games at the Euro 2024, has less than 1 year left on his current contract with the Blues. The West London club preferred to sell Conor overseas than to an English rival, so it allowed Atletico to get him for less money.
