The 29-year-old defensive tackle was entering the final campaign of his deal. Davon was scheduled to earn a base salary of 7.15 million dollars, with the opportunity to earn an extra 1 million dollars in per-match roster bonuses, and in the past has admitted he demands more respect.
“I have been consistently playing the run throughout my 8 seasons in the NFL, and I feel like I’m still at my highest level,” Godchaux shared with the media in the past week at training camp.
Keeping the DT in the team, and without hard feelings about his deal, had added value to New England after they became aware in the past weekend that they will be without starting DT Christian Barmore indefinitely because of blood clots.
New England has re-inked or extended the deals of 11 footballers since the end of the last season.
