The referees in the Premier League are the main topic in the football world after Luis Díaz’s goal for Liverpool against Tottenham was incorrectly not given after inadequate communication between VAR Darren England and on-field official Simon Hooper.
Pep admits he can understand the Reds’ shock and advises officials to be „humbler“ and allow the spotlight to stay on the footballers.
“They must create a system where the main focus is the players and the football itself,” the Sky Blues manager claimed.
“In all the countries, not just in the U.K. The officials and the VARs are the leading roles. And the Oscar goes to… they have to allow the attention to be where it belongs – on the pitch.”
