Anfield honored the German manager in his last game on the bench

Liverpool concluded the Jürgen Klopp era with a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on the final day of the season, capping off his tenure with a fitting win. Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah in the first half secured the win in Klopp’s 491st and last match as Liverpool manager.

The match took a decisive turn when Wolves’ Nelson Semedo was sent off following a VAR review for a foul on Liverpool’s No. 10, significantly tilting the balance in Liverpool’s favor. Shortly thereafter, Harvey Elliott delivered a pinpoint cross from the right flank that Mac Allister met with a fine glancing header to open the scoring.

Liverpool doubled their lead six minutes later. Following a save by Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa from a Wataru Endo curler, the Reds capitalized on the ensuing corner. Mohamed Salah directed Cody Gakpo’s flick-on towards goal, allowing Quansah to bundle the ball over the line.

With a numerical advantage and a two-goal cushion, Liverpool dominated the second half with confidence. Despite having a goal disallowed when Luis Diaz was offside in the build-up, the Reds controlled the game and saw out the win comfortably.

The Anfield crowd, enjoying a sunny day and a carnival atmosphere, sang “Jürgen said to me…” in repeated and raucous renditions, ensuring Klopp’s farewell was a memorable occasion.
