The champions crushed New York Knicks 132-109 in Boston

The 2024/25 NBA season started with exciting action, as the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers secured wins in their season openers.

In Boston, the Celtics dominated the visiting New York Knicks with a convincing 132-109 victory. The Celtics came out strong, winning the first quarter 43-24 and maintaining control throughout the game. By halftime, they were up 74-55 and further extended their lead in the third quarter, going ahead 113-87. Though the Knicks fought back in the final quarter, outscoring Boston 22-19, it was too late to overcome the deficit. Jayson Tatum led the charge for the Celtics with an outstanding performance, scoring 37 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists. For the Knicks, Myles McBride was their top scorer, contributing 22 points and 2 assists.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, the Lakers secured a 110-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in a hard-fought battle. This game was particularly special as LeBron James shared the court with his son Bronny James for the first time in an official NBA game, with Bronny playing for three minutes. The Lakers only won one of the four quarters but managed to keep the Timberwolves at bay. The second quarter was crucial, as the Lakers outscored Minnesota 33-19, giving them a 55-42 lead at halftime. Despite Minnesota’s efforts to close the gap, especially with a strong 32-27 third quarter and a final 29-28 push, the Lakers held on for the win.

Anthony Davis was the standout player for the Lakers, delivering an impressive 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists. His counterpart on the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards, also shone with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, though it wasn’t enough to secure a victory for his team.
