The Citizens are point behind Arsenal with a game in hand as Liverpool now third with two points behind

Manchester City displayed their championship credentials with an emphatic 4-0 triumph over Brighton in a rescheduled fixture from the 29th round of the Premier League, underscoring their determination in the title race against Arsenal.

The “Citizens” wasted no time asserting their dominance as Kyle Walker set up Kevin De Bruyne for the opening goal in the 17th minute, a clinical finish that eluded Brighton keeper Jason Steele.

Phil Foden doubled City’s advantage nine minutes later with a fortuitous free-kick deflected past Steele by a Brighton defender.

City continued to showcase their attacking prowess, capitalizing on Brighton’s defensive lapses as Foden capitalized on an error to notch his second and City’s third in the 34th minute.

Brighton sought a response after the break, with Joao Pedro testing City’s goalkeeper Ederson in the 53rd minute, only to be denied. Julian Alvarez squandered a chance moments later, but made amends in the 62nd minute, extending City’s lead to 4-0.

Despite Brighton’s appeals for a penalty in the 70th minute falling on deaf ears, City maintained their dominance till the final whistle.

With this commanding victory, Manchester City climbed to second place in the provisional standings with 76 points, trailing Arsenal by a solitary point but with a game in hand. Liverpool sits third with 74 points, setting the stage for a thrilling title race showdown.
