Manchester United started discussions with AS Monaco regarding the potential transfer of French international midfielder Youssouf Fofana, according to Sky Sports.
With Fofana’s contract expiring next year, Monaco is likely to consider selling him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Besides Fofana, Manchester United is also keeping an eye on several other midfield options, including Richard Rios from Palmeiras, Sander Berge from Burnley, and Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The club previously showed strong interest in Manuel Ugarte, but ultimately withdrew due to the high transfer fee demanded by PSG.
If Fofana signs for Man United, this will be the second player the Red Devils buy instead of AC Milan. Joshua Zirkzee had a total agreement with the Rossoneri earlier this summer, but the Italian team couldn’t find a deal with his agent, which led to his transfer to Old Traford. Now, the situation is identical as Fofana is pushing for Milan transfer and has agreed his personal conditions, but Monaco’s financial demands are stopping the deal.
