Manchester City delivered a dominant performance, thrashing Ipswich 6-0 at Portman Road to climb back into the Premier League’s top four.
Phil Foden was the standout performer, scoring twice and assisting another in a first-half masterclass. His first came in the 28th minute, expertly controlling Kevin De Bruyne’s cross before finishing clinically. Three minutes later, Foden turned provider, setting up Mateo Kovacic’s precise strike from the edge of the box. The England international then added his second just before halftime, as another De Bruyne pass allowed him to squeeze a low shot past Christian Walton.
City continued their onslaught after the break, with Jeremy Doku adding a fourth via a deflected shot before Erling Haaland—fresh from signing a new nine-and-a-half-year contract—capitalized on an Ipswich defensive error to make it 5-0. Substitute James McAtee completed the rout with a looping header from Kovacic’s cross.
