Manchester United can’t yet be considered as title contenders for this campaign, considering the amount of money, invested by rival teams, says Gary Neville.
United have made big signings this summer such as Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana and Mason Mount, but that according to Neville is still not enough to make them go neck-and-neck with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.
“There will be those that say Manchester United should be challenging for the title now.” Neville said.
“But realistically, looking at where Arsenal are and how they have recruited this summer, and looking how established Manchester City are, I think it would be unrealistic and harsh to say Manchester United should be competing for the title.”
The Red Devils finished 3rd last season, returning to the Champions League and also clinching their first silverware in 6 years with the League Cup. Based on that many experts have pointed out that United should aim one higher and go for the Premier League crown this campaign.
