Lady Cathy Ferguson, the wife of the former Red Devils head coach Sir Alex Ferguson, has died aged 84.
The couple married in 1966, spending 57 years together, and had 3 sons, including Peterborough head coach Darren Ferguson.
“We are deeply saddened to share of the passing yesterday of Lady Cathy Ferguson,” an announcement from Ferguson’s family shared.
“The family asks for privacy during that period.”
Without Lady Cathy Ferguson, there would be no Sir Alex Ferguson, and consequently, no legacy of Manchester United.

The Premier League side from Old Trafford also wrote a statement: “Everyone at our club sends our heartfelt condolences to Sir Alex Ferguson and his family on the passing of Lady Cathy, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a person that was always with Alex during his phenomenal career.”
The couple met before Ferguson became a manager, as both worked at a typewriter factory during that time.
