The Blues scored late equalizer for 1-1 before beating the Magpies from the spot kicks

Chelsea scored a late equalizer and then beat Newcastle on penalties to go through the 1/4-finals of the English League Cup.

After a quarter of an hour of play, a major misunderstanding occurred in Chelsea’s defense when a misplaced pass from the Blues led to chaos. Benoît Badiashile made a nightmarish error, allowing the ball to slip through his legs, and Callum Wilson seized the opportunity, sprinting to retrieve the ball and skillfully beating goalkeeper Georgi Petrovic with a well-placed shot, making it 1-0 for the visitors.

In added time, Chelsea’s pressure after the half time yielded results. Ian Maatsen delivered a cross, and Kieran Trippier attempted a headed pass back to Dubravka, but it was too gentle, and Mudryk attacked him from behind. The Ukrainian forward then shot and beat the Slovak goalkeeper, leveling the score after the English defender’s costly mistake.

Following the goal, a Chelsea fan entered the field and pushed Martin Dubravka, as the stewards struggled to handle the situation, but without serious consequences.

As the full-time whistle came at 1-1 penalties hat to decide the winner of this tie. Palmer and Alum Wilson scored their penalties, but Trippier made another mistake, which after Nkunku’s goal came to 3-1 in favor of the home side.

Two new goals made the score 4-2 and Matrich made a second mistake for the Magpies as Petrovic saved his shot from the spot.
