The host nation will play for the title against Spain.

France won against Egypt 3-1 at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon as the game was tied 1-1 after the regular time, but the French team won the match in the extra time after the African team remained with 10 players at the beginning of the 30 additional minutes.

In the 1st half, we didn’t see any goals as the host nation had only 1 shot on target compared to the 2 from the African country, but neither of them found the net.

However, Egypt shocked France when Mahmoud Saber scored in the 62nd minute after securing a loose ball inside the box to make it 1-0 for the African country.

The host nation of the Olympics tied the result in the 85th minute when Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta scored from close range in the back of the net after an assist from his former teammate at the Eagles, Michael Olise.

The referee gave 6 minutes of additional time, and in the 6th minute of the added time, he went to the VAR monitor to check whether there is a penalty for France. The official saw a foul in attack so he decided to not give the French team a penalty and the match went into an extra time.

Omar Fayed received a 2nd yellow card in the 92nd minute and left the African team with 10 players on the pitch as that gave a huge advantage to France and Jean-Philippe Mateta netted his 2nd goal in the match in the 99th minute to give the hosts the 1st lead in the game and Michael Olise sealed everything with his goal in the 108th minute.

France will play against Spain in the match for the gold medal.
